Athena introduces MagiGlue™, the biodegradable, reversible adhesive.

Powdered All-Natural MagiGlue™ is Versitile, Long-Lasting

July 22, 2008 Baltimore, MD: Athena Environmental Sciences™ has introduced a powdered version of its MagiGlue™, a reversible, environmentally friendly glue. The powdered version expands the potential applications of MagiGlue™, allowing for a variety of consistencies and uses, just by controlling the amount of water that is added to the powder. The powder has a longer shelf life than that of regular MagiGlue™, is very easy to use, and retains all of the same features as the liquid MagiGlue™ formulation: it is biodegradable, reversible with water, non-toxic, non-acidic, composed of entirely renewable resources, and is free of animal products.

MagiGlue™ was developed as a biodegradable reversible adhesive containing two complementary biopolymers, which results in a stronger bond than that of most currently available natural adhesives that use only one active ingredient. This combination of polymers mimics the complex formulations that adhesive-producing organisms create in nature, such as algae clinging to river rocks. It forms bonds as strong as the leading home-use glues and adheres to a wide range of substrates ranging from paper and cardboard to metal, glass, plastic, and painted surfaces. MagiGlue™ is also reversible with water, which dissolves the bond within seconds. This makes cleanup easier, and opens the possibilities for non-permanent and seasonal craft projects. In the absence of water, the bond will last indefinitely.

The new powder formulation lends itself to a wide variety of uses because the user can determine the viscosity of the adhesive by controlling the amount of water that is added. If less water is mixed with the powder, it will become a thick paste great for gluing bulky items such as wood. Adding more water will make it thinner, which is great for applications such as decoupage, coatings, and gluing delicate objects. Because MagiGlue™ has a neutral pH, the powder version is especially useful for specialized paper crafts like book making, repairing and scrapbooking. It does not require boiling or special preparations like other specialty glues. The shelf life of powdered MagiGlue™ is five years, as contrasted with the three year shelf life of liquid MagiGlue™.

MagiGlue™ is available through Athena's website, www.athenaenvironmental.com.

Reversible Glue Brings Athena's Scientific Magic to Consumers

January 27, 2006 Baltimore, MD: Athena Environmental Sciences™, a Baltimore-based biotechnology company, has realized its mission to apply science to the design of environmentally friendly and economically sound products with the launch of its first consumer product: a reversible, environmentally friendly glue. This glue, marketed under the trade name MagiGlue™, is an all-natural non-toxic glue composed of organic biopolymers, completely free of petroleum and animal by-products.

MagiGlue™ was developed as a biodegradable reversible adhesive with a formulation containing two complementary biopolymers, which results in a stronger bond than most currently available natural adhesives that use only one active ingredient. MagiGlue™ is vegan, biodegradable, non-toxic, non-acidic, and composed of completely renewable resources.

MagiGlue™ can be used for a wide range of temporary or permanent applications, such as wall hangings, seasonal decorations, window displays, kid's crafts, costumes, scrapbooking, and general-purpose gluing at home or at school. It is ideal for renters or school dormitories where there is disincentive to hang items with nails.

AthenaES™ has 12 years of experience creating customized products for life science companies and federal agencies; however MagiGlue™ is its first consumer venture.

"The company has worked over the years on a number of projects that have proven to be beneficial and environmentally responsible for our clients," says CEO Sheldon Broedel Jr. "We wanted to bring the benefits of our strong scientific background into the hands of the consumer. It is our hope that MagiGlue™ will show consumers that with smart design, environmentally-friendly products are as good as, if not better than, traditional products."

MagiGlue™ is available through Athena's website, www.athenaenvironmental.com.
